Parental Responsibility

Divorce can be a difficult and contentious process and here at the Law Offices of Stephen K. Hachey, we understand what is most important to you: protecting your family. Except in extreme cases, Florida law requires that parents share parental responsibilities. However, we understand that divorce often complicates this delicate matter. We are well-versed in cases involving custody and parental rights. We have clients that are custodial and non-custodial parents and we fight aggressively for what is fair in each case.

Florida’s Shared Parental Responsibility Act requires all divorce involving minor dependent children to include a “Parenting Plan” in order to determine physical time-sharing responsibilities for each party as well as ensure that parents consult with each other when making any and all decisions involving the emotional and physical wellbeing of their children after the divorce. The Parenting Plan is ideally drafted and agreed to by the parents and then it is formally approved or denied by the court. Whether seeking Full Shared Parental Responsibility or Sole Parental Responsibility, The Law Offices of Stephen K. Hachey will help you negotiate the parameters of your Parenting Plan and ensure the terms of the agreement are enforced.
